Martin Dillon

BARRISTER

Martin was admitted to the Bar in 2007. He became a Crown prosecutor for the Hamilton Crown Solicitor in 2015 after 8 years in private practice in Auckland. He joined the independent Bar in 2018.

Martin has represented private individuals, corporations and government departments from New Zealand and overseas. He has acted for plaintiffs, prosecuting agencies and defendants in a broad range of cases. These have included class actions, jury trials, appeals and alternative dispute resolution processes.

Career highlights include negotiated settlements, summary dismissals, complex fraud prosecutions and the application of foreign laws in New Zealand.

An advocate for better access to justice, Martin has provided civil and criminal legal aid services; made submissions to the New Zealand Rules Committee; and wrote 'Civil Litigation for Non-Lawyers: A Plain English Guide to Civil Cases in New Zealand'.
