David Mayall

BARRISTER

Graduated LLB (Hons)/ Bachelor of Social Sciences from the University of Waikato in 2015. Following his admission to the bar, David commenced practice in a firm specialising in family law in Hamilton for 4 years.

David joined the independent bar in 2019 when he joined Thackeray chambers.

David has been appointed by the Family Court to act for children in disputes relating to parenting arrangements, relocation, family violence, adoption, guardianship and Oranga Tamariki matters.

David regularly appears in the Family Court, but has also appeared in the District Court, the High Court, and the Court of Appeal. While David’s workload is not limited to family law, it primarily comprises of:

Care of Children matters including parenting and guardianship disputes;
Domestic violence matters;
Cases involving Oranga Tamariki;
Relationship property disputes;
Contracting out agreements;
Estate matters including will disputes, Family Protection Act claims, and issues regarding testamentary capacity;
Trust matters; and
Civil proceedings.
